Production of dates in Iran has a historical history and dates are the second horticultural product of Iran, which is produced annually in the amount of one million tons in the groves of the southern provinces. Dates are normally cultivated in 15 provinces of the country, two-thirds of date production in Iran is related to the five provinces of Kerman, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchistan, Bushehr and Hormozgan.
